About this work

Cast-iron stove tile, divided into two zones. In the upper zone two coats of arms. Left those of Joost, Count of Bronckhorst, Lord of Borculo (1503-1553). Right the family coat of arms of Maria van Hoya, Countess of Bronckhorst, Lady of Borculo (1508-1579). In the lower zone three female saints on a console. Left Catherine, in the middle Mary with child and right Barbara. Above a symmetrical ornament of leaves. The whole is framed with a double-profiled border.
