About this work
Cast-iron stove plate, divided into two zones. In the upper zone is an image of Abraham with raised sword, ready to kill the kneeling Isaac in the bottom right corner. The sword is held back by a putto. Above it the year 1570 with between them a cartouche with a partially illegible inscription and the numbers 22, a reference to the biblical book from which this scene is taken (Genesis 22). At the very top in backward-slanting cursive the inscription ABRAHAM. In the lower zone a grid of horizontal lines. The whole is closed on the sides with decorated pilasters.
