About this work
Cast-iron stove plate, with three semi-circles on the upper side. Centrally a representation of the capture of the Spanish silver fleet by Piet Hein, with several ships at sea and land with some trees in the background. In the middle semi-circle stands the Dutch lion with raised sword in the Dutch garden. In the left semi-circle the coat of arms of Holland with the standing lion. In the right semi-circle the coat of arms of Zeeland with the standing lion in the sea. The upper side is surmounted by several French lilies. Between the ships the inscription: BAY D. MATANSE.
