Strip of bobbin lace with triangular field with branching twig

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a triangular field, with the base the underside of the strip and a top that ends slightly below the top of the strip. The sides of the triangle are formed by a line with kinks in it. From the top hangs a branching stem downwards, with whimsical leaves and rosette flowers. The pattern along the underside is formed by the flowers and leaves at the end of these branches and by more or less oval cartouches. Between the successive triangular fields a loose flower with stem and leaf is visible, directed slightly diagonally from top to bottom. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, the Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with few cutouts and thicker and shiny contour threads. Two different decorative grounds are applied in the triangular field and two others in the cartouches along the underside, including a snowflake ground. The shallow scalloped underside is finished with picots.
