About this work

Alb strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: old Brabant lace. Two almost symmetrical motifs alternate. I. A palmette flower and a fan-shaped leaf rosette stand under a high pointed arch. II. A small fleur de lys stands under a low pointed arch. In the scallops there is bandwork of lying C-scrolls, each enclosing a flower basket. From this springs a large branch with pinnate leaves and very large flowers. Between the closed ornament little space is left for narrow strips of an open plaited ground.
