About this work
Volant of natural-colored bobbin lace: Parisian lace. The ground is divided into two, a Parisian ground with clover leaves at the top and a tulle ground below. In the latter is a symmetrical pattern of rhomboid openwork medallions with side scrolls crowned by a flower between two leaves. The leaves, side scrolls, and a series of small flowers and vines in the shell edge stand in three closed swags loosely above one another. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with contour threads. A rose ground is used as a decorative ground.
