Shawl of Bobbin Lace with Corner Lilies

Scarf of black bobbin lace: Chantilly lace. Rectangular model. On a mesh ground stands a pattern, which is symmetrical with respect to the short axis. A border shows large corner lilies and closely packed peonies, roses, chrysanthemums and cluster flowers, which form a fairly straight outline. Inside stands a lobed border, filled with spirals or leaf branches and crossed by flowers and branches. On the long sides the lobes are small and numerous, on the short sides stands one large arched shell ended by volutes. Hanging over them are branches with flowers; between two large, five-lobed leaves stands a tuft of a tulip and a peony. In the corners come some loose C-scrolls. Along the long sides stand sickle-shaped arches connected by sparse garlands. From the arched transverse shells grows each time a sturdy branch with various flowers, which are covered by a gate of C-scrolls with hanging garlands. The middle is filled with loose garlands, small bouquets of roses and rose petals.
