Strip of bobbin lace with hanging leaf branch

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. Under a strew pattern of one-sidedly directed twigs with always one round flower attached, the repeating pattern of the scalloped edge consists of a curved twig. Between two leaf volutes on this twig hangs a large composite flower downwards. The flower consists of a drop-shaped flower heart where a half wreath of five rosette flowers lies around it. Each successive flower forms in this way a semi-round scallop. The motifs are made in linen stitch and provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine lattice ground, a Mechelen ground. In the drop-shaped flower hearts a coarser decorative ground is applied with therein cubes made in form stitch. The scalloped edge is finished with picots. The upper side of the strip is finished straight.
