Overjapon with skirt or robe à la française

Single-length gown with trailing robe à la française, in grey-blue and yellow striped lampas with woven bizarre patterns composed of vases, leaf and flower motifs and geometric figures, partially brocaded with metal thread, consisting of an overgown (a) and a skirt (b). Model: (a) straight neckline, half-length tight-fitting sleeves decorated with a bow-like ornament and provided with double pagoda-shaped cuffs, tight-fitting bodice from the front with a breastplate added in 1957 consisting of two parts set with three bows (l'echelle), on the back from the neck a loose, symmetrically constructed system of flat pleats (pli Watteau), front panels of skirt smooth and provided with tapering flaps, flat pleats around the side seams of the skirt and a deep slit in them. Bodice and sleeves lined with beige/brown striped ticking; skirt lined with light blue taffeta added in 1957, trimmed at the hem with a yellow silk facing. Inner bodice fastens with eyelets and hooks in scalloped eyes.
