About this work
Stoneware jug (schnelle) with a cylindrical, tapering body and C-shaped handle. Profiles below the rim and above the foot. On the body, in relief, three times a stamped and applied, elongated panel with personifications of Venus, 'VENVS', Sol, 'SOL' and Mercury, 'MERCVRIVS 1591'. At the bottom of each panel a coat of arms and the mark 'H.H.'. At the top of the panels a human figure surrounded by leafy scrolls. A pewter mount with lid is attached to the handle; on the inside marked in a shield with 'I.S.' above a crown. Siegburg.
