Jug with a dancing couple

Stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, round shoulder and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck, belly and foot. Partially covered with cobalt blue. The belly is divided into seven compartments by arches, with in each compartment a dancing couple. Under the arches an unreadable inscription (see for comparison BK-KOG-513). In the leftmost compartment the date '1597'. The lower part of the belly slopes obliquely to the foot and has cannelures. The shoulder is divided into engraved compartments with a stamped decoration cut out in blue and surrounded by chisel cuts. On the neck in relief a printed and applied band of linked heart-shaped medallions and masks in medallions, surrounded by leaf tendrils. Raeren.
