Jug with instructions on how to operate a musket

Stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck, body, and foot. Partially covered with cobalt blue. On the body, in relief, a stamped and applied band with eleven instructions for handling a musket, based on the prints of Jacob de Gheyn II (1565-1629) from his Wapenhandelinghe (1607). The lower part of the body features cannelures, and the shoulder is divided into compartments with alternating carved and stamped rosettes in a diamond pattern. On the neck, a relief band with masks and rosettes in medallions surrounded by leafy scrolls. Stamped 'M' on the handle. Raeren/Westerwald.
