Jug with the story of Susanna

Stoneware jug on a high foot with a cylindrical body, rounded shoulder, and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck, belly, and foot. Covered with a brown engobe. On the belly, in relief, stamped and applied depictions from the history of Susanna, with the inscription below: 'DIT IS DEI SCHO[...]E [...]ESTORIA VAN SUSANNA INT KORTE EIT GESNEIDEN ANNO 1584 [...]'. The shoulder and lower part of the belly are divided into compartments. On the neck, an applied band of portraits in arches. A tin mount with lid attached to the handle. An illegible mark on the inside of the lid. Raeren.
