About this work
One of eight knob chairs, including two with armrests, made of hard wood, with smooth turned stiles and cross-rails, front legs and back stiles ending in finely turned knobs; back sloping backwards with four flat cross-spindles; flat armrests ending in a thickening, resting on a baluster-shaped support. Seat of woven rush, twisted on top, straight underneath. On the seat, a loose trapezoidal cushion with hanging gathered fringed flaps, on the two sides and front, covered with green satin edged and decorated with 'loops' with yellow silk ribbon. Cushion fixed at the back or sides with pins.
