About this work

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, blonde. The repeating and continuous pattern consists of a zigzag band, which divides the strip into triangular fields. In the center of each field stands a four-lobed rosette. Along the top and bottom of the strip runs a shell border, which consists of a stringing together of circles. The shell borders are finished with picots. The motifs are connected by a coarse mesh ground, sown with square buttonholes. The zigzag band, rosettes and circle borders are made in linen stitch, where the rosettes are provided with a contour thread.
