About this work
Round lead plaque, surrounded by a braided band. In the center foreground, David kneels; before him lie the harp, a sheepskin bag, and a shepherd's staff; Samuel stands behind him, in priestly vestments, pouring oil over David's head, anointing him as future king. On the right, two standing male figures; on the left, the seated, elderly father, with three women behind him in the middle ground.
