About this work

Chest of partly gilded walnut with a spruce interior. The recessed corner posts are decorated with a cartouche featuring a female mask and festoons. The front panel shows, within a frame, turned knobs with a mask as the central piece. The base has a border of framed, inverted palmettes. The lid edge has shalms and is supported by a series of leaf consoles. The sides are undecorated and fitted with iron handles.
