About this work
Walnut chest with poplar interior, decorated with intarsia in various woods. The chest rests on a molded plinth, above which a broad band with intarsia motifs. The diagonally placed corner posts are in the form of S-scrolls and are decorated with rosettes and a hollow shield with broad wings and a floral wreath. The front and sides are framed with intarsia motifs, as is the flat lid which on the inside carries a hollow cushion.
