About this work

Walnut cupboard door, set in rails and stiles (part of the lower half of a cupboard front). The door is, within a molded frame, in flat relief decorated with medallions surrounded by scrollwork, in which Ceres and Bacchus, carried by a pair of turned sphinxes and crowned by an eagle. On the stiles in relief sphinxes and swans in oval medallions; between them a white and black veined marble plate. At the top consoles, between which the drawer slide.
