Strip of mixed lace with horizontal rectangles between hanging roses

Strip of natural-colored mixed lace: point d'Angleterre. The repeating pattern consists of lying rectangles. Above the rectangles runs in a straight line a series of arches. Between the rectangles hangs a larger arch with a hanging rose underneath, which reaches to the underside of the strip and forms a shell there. The scalloped edge is supplemented by the three leaves that always hang down under each rectangle. A part of the motifs, such as the hanging roses and the leaves under the rectangles, is made in linen stitch with openwork edges and shiny contour threads. Various motifs are accentuated by relief contours. Another part, such as the rectangles and small motifs on the arches, is made in needle lace. The motifs are connected to each other by a fine mesh ground, a mesh lace ground. The top side of the strip is finished straight with a separate bobbin lace wide band. The scalloped edge is finished with picots.
