About this work

Strip of natural-coloured appliqué lace, bobbin lace with some needle lace stitches applied to machine-made tulle. Scattered motif with knots on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. Repetitive motif with alternating a branch with two bell-shaped flowers and a symmetrical volute motif. Scalloped lower edge with alternating three daisies and a large flower. Motifs in linen stitch with thick contour threads and decorative stitches in the flowers. In the small leaves knotted relief contours, so-called ribs, are made. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace. The centres of the flowers and the knots are made in needle lace stitches.
