About this work
Strip of natural-coloured Brussels appliqué lace: bobbin lace with some needle lace decorative stitches applied to machine-made tulle. The repeating pattern consists of C-shaped flower branches springing from a wavy lower edge with zigzag pattern. This edge is edged with picoted arches, with under each wave top a rocaille-like motif with a dot in the centre. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and provided with relief contours. The upper side is edged with a separate knotted band.
