About this work
Engageante of natural-colored Brussels appliqué lace: Brussels bobbin lace applied on a drawn-work ground. The pattern consists of wildflowers and a lower border of linked medallions and lying C-shaped motifs. The motifs are made in linen stitch with bobbin relief and thick contour threads. In the medallions a coarser lattice ground is applied as ornamental ground, and in the C-shaped motifs various ornamental grounds including with blocks made in shape stitch which are also visible in various flower hearts. The very flat scalloped edge is finished with picots. The ends are joined almost invisibly.
