About this work

This white chintz skirt is decorated with multicolored flowers, fruit, birds, butterflies, and insects. The bottom border features an Indian hunting scene in a landscape with trees. The floral and plant scrolls, in contrast, betray the influence of the European Rococo style on Indian chintz.
