About this work

In the flat of the bowl, which has a central boss in the middle, a representation of Samson's fight with the lion (Judges 14:5-6) is stamped with a die-stamp. This is surrounded by a border of stylized leaves stamped with punch-stamps. On the rim, a corresponding ornament is applied in the same manner. Blown bubbles are worked into the transition from the flat to the wall. The hanging ring at the back and the hole in the rim were added later.
