Strip of needle lace with alternating rosettes and diamonds in geometrically divided fields

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: punto in aria. The pattern consists alternately of a rosette and a rhombus in a square which is built up from sixteen small squares. Between the large squares stands always a column of three squares with in each a rosette. Under each large square hangs a three-lobed shell, which at the height of the column with rosettes is connected to each other by a fourth rosette. The upper side is finished with a knotted band. The scalloped edge is finished with picots.
