Strip of bobbin lace with scallop edge of alternating rosette flower and five-lobed leaf

Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace, Cluny lace. The repeating pattern consists along the underside of the strip of a rosette flower and a diagonally placed five-lobed leaf. The successive flowers and leaves are placed against each other and together form a scalloped edge. Above the center line a kind of zigzag line is created with diagonally placed elongated motifs, each crowned by three oval motifs. The motifs are made in loose linen stitch with double contour threads. They are connected to each other by a rhomboid mesh ground, formed by picoted braids. In the center of the five-lobed leaf blocks are made in shape stitch. The upper side of the strip is finished straight. The scalloped edge along the underside results from the pattern and is finished with small arches made with braids, provided with picots.
