About this work
Strip of natural-coloured bobbin lace: strop lace. The repeating pattern consists of stylised hanging ears of corn. The ears of corn hang straight down, they are placed against each other and form a scalloped edge along the underside of the strip. At the top of the strip the ears of corn begin from an inverted V-shaped motif made in net stitch, with a diamond at the top in linen stitch. These motifs are connected at the top of the strip by a lattice ground, a strop lattice ground, in which always one block in form stitch is worked between the ears of corn. The top side of the strip is finished straight.
