Strip of bobbin lace with semi-circular shells and rosettes between diamonds

Strip of black bobbin lace: Le Puy lace. The repeating and symmetrical pattern consists of a continuous wide decorative band, which forms a shell border with semi-circular shells. At the junction points between the shells stands a rosette flower which is crowned by a three-lobed motif. A variation of this flower with three-lobed motif returns in every shell. Above the junction points stands a more or less rhomboid field with in it a square grid, with crosses made in buttonhole stitch. The rhombus is bounded at the top by three rosette flowers with drop-shaped motifs in between. The motifs are made in linen stitch. They are accentuated by contour threads and are connected with each other by different decorative grounds. The shell border is finished with picots. The upper side of the strip is finished straight.
