About this work
Strip of natural-coloured needle lace: Alençon lace. Pattern with a repeating motif of a flower branch and above it three rows of picots, on a fine hexagonal mesh ground. On the horizontal flower branch a downward-facing fan flower and an upward-facing branch with three rosette flowers. The fan flowers are filled with various ornamental grounds, as are the garlands which form a regular arched border at the lower edge. In each arch one flower branch. The upper side is edged with a border of bobbin lace.
