About this work

Fragment of natural-colored bobbin lace: Honiton lace. The repeating pattern consists of C-scrolls with a small flower clamped between start and end with a loop-shaped flower heart and four openwork lobes as petals. Above this, several connected small flowers on narrow stems with loop-shaped leaves. The contours of the motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges and partly in mesh stitch, with shiny contour threads. In some flowers blocks are applied in buttonhole stitch. The motifs are connected without ground. Part of the fragment is finished with picots.
