About this work

Strip of natural-colored needle lace: Venetian relief lace. Symmetrical pattern with butterfly above S-scrolls. To the right of this another small flower. The motifs are built up from festoon stitches with sparingly applied cutouts and with festooned relief contours. The motifs are connected to each other by a picoted spijlen ground. Decorative stitches in, among others, the wings of the butterfly and in the petals. Top and bottom edge of the strip are finished straight.
