About this work
Stoneware jug on a high foot with a narrow neck, egg-shaped body, and a pinched spout in the rim. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck and foot. Partially covered in cobalt blue glaze. Some incised lines on the foot and neck. The jug is decorated with a relief design in which the belly is largely covered with printed, applied medallions featuring a floral rosette against a blue background. A modeled mask is attached to the neck under the spout, flanked by a rosette. Westerwald.
