Chrismatory

The cylindrical box rests on three ball feet (one of which is partially replaced) and has a loose, slightly domed lid with a round knob. The body of the box is composed of two parts, of which the upper closes on the lower. On both parts and on the lid a continuous scene is chased in low relief. The lower part shows the Ark of Noah: the ark floats in an infinite sea from which mountain peaks and rocks protrude and in which various drowning people clinging to branches or tree trunks and a swimming deer are found. Furthermore, a dove is depicted three times: flying, pecking in a rock and rising with a twig in its beak. Above all this is a cloudy sky from which rain falls indicated by fine engraving. The upper part shows the Gathering of the Manna. Against a background of tents and houses, many figures with baskets collect the Manna.
