About this work

Before a wall with niche, flanked by two blind arcades, sits Christ with bound wrists on a bench between two soldiers, who each stand on a raised platform. The left soldier has a foot on the bench and presses a stick with both hands on the crown of thorns, while the other soldier has placed his foot against Christ's thigh and also presses a stick with both hands on Christ's head. They all wear long robes, the left soldier a beret, the other a pointed cap.
