Mary sits on the left with the Child on her lap, facing the kneeling Melchior. Behind them stand, from left to right, Joseph, Caspar, and Balthasar; above their heads, part of a roof overhang. The foreground figures are cut off at the bottom by an elongated, diagonally placed panel.
