Strip of bobbin lace with triangular fields and stylized cup flower

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace. The repeating pattern consists of two alternating triangular fields. One field is formed by a straight-hanging, stylized cup flower between two leaves. The other triangular field is formed by the space between two successive fields with cup flowers. In this field stands a more or less Christmas tree-shaped motif. The motifs are connected by a coarse rhomboid mesh ground, a shoelace-hole lattice ground, scattered with square mosaic knots. The motifs are made with thick contour threads and regularly winding braided strips. The mosaic knots are made in needle lace. The top and bottom of the strip are straight-finished, the bottom being edged with picots. According to tradition, the strip would have been set with a corresponding strip around a cloth.
