About this work

Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: old Flemish lace. With small cutouts, a repeating symmetrical pattern is discernible: along one long side a trefoil flanked on both sides by a rosette flower, and along the other long side a stylized French lily flanked on both sides by a butterfly-shaped leaf. There is hardly any ground. The motifs are made in linen stitch with openwork edges. The top and bottom edges are straight-finished, with picots along one side.
