About this work
From its shape and decoration, this dish looks like Chinese porcelain, but it is actually made of tin-glazed earthenware. Chinese porcelain was extremely popular in the Netherlands. When its production in China ceased due to civil war, Delft potters began imitating its style in earthenware.
