About this work

Stoneware jug on a ring foot with a pear-shaped body and wide neck. The C-shaped handle is attached to the neck and shoulder. Profiles on the neck and foot. On the front of the belly an engraved leaf shape with in relief a stamped and applied medallion with a portrait of a 17th-century dressed man. The border inscription with 'IACOP.SCHEFER.KOPMAN.IHN.AMSDERDAM:1694:A.D.L.'. On either side of this floral scrolls with engraved stems and applied flowers. Attached to the handle a tin mount; the lid is missing. Westerwald.
