About this work

Wooden casket covered in red leather with gilded ornaments: a repeating pattern of French crowns and crowned dolphins. The lid, featuring four crowned dolphins, is attached to the box with two copper hinges. The copper lock plate is also decorated. The casket was likely used for a book or writing materials.
