View of the Amsterdam Schouwburg on the Leidseplein, inaugurated on 15 September 1774. Various figures and carriages on the square. To the left in the background the Leidsepoort. This city theatre was built to replace the theatre on the Keizersgracht which burned down in 1772 and itself burned down in 1890. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Fine Arts, Theatre, Schouwburg on the Leidscheplein (since 1774).
