About this work

Two representations of marriage customs among the Reformed in Amsterdam, ca. 1730. In the upper representation the betrothed couple receives congratulations and gifts. In the lower representation the palm-knotting, the tying of flower and leaf wreaths by the betrothed couple and friends. With legend and inscriptions in French. Subject headings within the Atlas Zeden en Gewoonten: Des Menschen Begin, Midden en Einde. Wedding and marriage.
