About this work
Sheet with two depictions of preparations for a Reformed wedding ceremony. Top: The engaged couple holds a reception before the wedding day, where they and their parents are congratulated by family and acquaintances. Bottom: Two days before the wedding day, bridesmaids, groomsmen, family, and friends gather for the palm-knotting. The branches of the maidenhair palm are silvered, gilded, and knotted, and the room is decorated with them.
