About this work
In the lying-in room a wet nurse feeds the baby with a spoon, while another woman watches. On the right lies the mother in a canopy bed. Next to her sits her husband. At the bottom in the margin the coat of arms of Johann Goll van Frankenstein, who owned the original painting and to whom the print is dedicated.
