About this work
Helena and her secret lover Ferdinand recite a pastoral poem to each other, in which the characters express their love to each other. At the table sit Helena's father Manshart (the feigned sick man), and his doctor Narticoforus. Behind the doctor stands his son Bartrand, for whom Manshart has destined his daughter. Scene from the second act of the play De ingebeelde zieke by Molière. Stands before the letter.
