Waiting Room for Officers

A waiting room with officers about to march out. Some hurry with rifles and bayonets towards the exit. To the right, four men prepare to depart; their playing cards have fallen to the ground in haste. The man on the far right wears an orange sash around his waist. Against the left wall, under the windows, men lie sleeping on straw sacks, one of whom is waking up. Others are getting dressed. One of them wears a nightcap with the letters "W.R.". In the foreground, two men pack their drums lying on the floor. To the left, near a staircase, stand two men. One is dressed in a green dolman trimmed with astrakhan. The other points with his right arm. Against the right wall, in the corner, stands a large bed with curtains.
