About this work
The deposed King James II in exile in France prepares to sail to England, should the assassination attempt on King William III succeed. Warships at sea and an army embarking in the foreground. On the right, high-ranking officials, likely Louis XIV and James II. On the right, defensive towers and part of the coast. Below the plate on the sheet, a description of the conspiracy and a speech by King William III delivered on 5 March 1696, in which he announces the failed assassination attempt on him. Text in two columns in Dutch and French.
