About this work
Satirical print on the Italian losses in the Battle of Adowa on 1 March 1896 during the war with Ethiopia (Abyssinia). In the center, Italian King Umberto I almost loses his crown in the wind; on the right, defeated on the ground, lies Italian Prime Minister Francesco Crispi. In the clouds on the left, the victorious Ethiopian Negus. Published in the supplement of 'De Kroniek' on 15 March 1896.
