About this work
An inhabitant of the polar regions paddles in a kayak and throws harpoons at birds on the water. In the background a rocky landscape with a woman with a child, a man carrying a kayak, several tents with people and a sled dog. The title of the print refers to the man, woman and child from northeastern Canada who kidnapped the English explorer Martin Frobisher in 1577 and took him to England. In: 'Warhafftige Relation. Der dreyen newen unerhörten seltzamen Schiffart so die Holländischen und Seeländischen Schiff....Anno 1594, 1595 und 1596 verricht' (1598).
